Having a coach has helped me focus on what is most important to me, helped me identify my roadblocks and decide how to deal with them and keeps me accountable for keeping my word to myself. Paul keeps on top of what I have set as goals for myself and provides structure, support and a chance at each session for me to clarify my direction. I was in one of the darkest professional places I have encountered when I started Growing Forward Coaching.  I was burned out which was reflected in my performance.  I was only sleeping 3-4 hours per night, I was unorganized, and found myself becoming somewhat cynical.  Fortunately, my work with Growing Forward Coaching and Mastermind, brought light back into my life.  My suffering self-esteem reengaged my belief that we are all brilliant lights and my life began to slowly return to normal.  My sleep improved, my organization improved, my fulfillment in my work returned, and my performance saw a steady return to my norm.  Probably my biggest takeaway was, with Paul’s gentle and affirming guidance, my realization one can go through the motions and “do” the right stuff, but, unless your authentic self is present and passionate, it is somewhat futile and will not achieve optimal results.  Thank you, Paul!

Paul focuses each session on topics that are important to you; offering applicable solutions that making lasting impacts. His techniques focus on quick tweaks to current process and procedure; never asking or expecting a complete transformation of current practices. A big focus of mine when I started working with Paul surrounded Essentialism and Time Management. I needed to be frugal with my time, while enjoying the journey and not just the final destination. Paul helped me identify points in time throughout any given project to effectively pause and ask, “Am I investing in the right activities for the outcome I need? Am I getting the right things done at the right time?” This has impacted my work tremendously, because now I approach each task with discipline and focus and when needed, stop and redirect.

I have found Paul’s coaching to be very effective and it has helped me strengthen and hone my leadership style over the last several months. When Paul and I started meeting, I was just getting ready to launch a new innovation pilot program at the national laboratory called Q-Camp.  Through the discussions with Paul I became more aware of how to utilize my personal strengths and passions and to live those through Q-Camp.  He helped me quiet my inner, hyper-critical voice and gain some peace about the path that I was journeying, incorporating aspects of my personal faith into my work environment.  Through our conversations I was able to reflect and articulate various aspects of Q-Camp that helped me feel more empowered and comfortable to wear the mantle of Q-Camp Director while still looking for opportunities to engage the strengths of those around me and share the burden with the team, rather than my tendency to shoulder the burdens myself.

I also really appreciate how Paul tracks our action items and holds me accountable for taking actions to address the things that we talk about.  It’s not enough to talk about the struggles I’m having, Paul follows up with ‘so what are you going to do about that?’ and then the next time we meet he holds me accountable to doing something and making progress.  Sometimes there is no progress, but Paul doesn’t scold or make me feel more guilty than I already do – he simply says, let’s work on that for next time and helps me set a more specific goal and then continues to follow-up during our regular meetings.

Paul came in to facilitate a half-day workshop with my department at TiLite. We’d just been through an acquisition, we had one employee who was a remote worker, and we really needed to come together as we looked towards our future. Paul led a couple of exercises that revealed team members’ motivations and communications styles. This has directly led to improved transparency and better collaboration within the group. Paul Casey was hired to support the Pet Over Population Prevention (POPP) organization’s effort to further develop their strategic plan.  Paul has an unassuming style that worked very well with the POPP Board which is a mix of people that have been on the Board for many years, a couple that have been on the Board for one year, and a relatively new Executive Director.    Paul knew when to help move the Board along and when to let them have their needed crucial conversations.  This was a delicate balance that Paul was able to maintain throughout the planning sessions.  Paul was the catalyst for the progress the board is currently experiencing.  We are grateful for the well thought out approach to strategic planning provided to us by Paul as we can reference the objectives and commitments at each Board meeting.
