I realize that I hadn’t shared the titles of the 35 leadership and personal development books I read in 2019. Here are the ones I recommend to you, for your reading list for the rest of 2020–to keep you Growing Forward!

  1. What Got You Here Won’t Get You There by Marshall Goldsmith (the need to make change to stay growing/relevant)
  2. The Road Back to You by Ian Morgan Cron (the best book on the Enneagram assessment)
  3. Atomic Habits by James Clear (how to break goals down into their smallest increments to achieve them)
  4. Dare to Lead by Brene Brown (love the part about the “story I’m telling myself”)
  5. Decisive by Chip/Dan Heath (best book on being a better decision-maker)
  6. Learned Optimism by Martin Seligman (the opposite of learned helplessness)
  7. The Power of When by Michael Breus (finding your chronotype, and the best time of day to do everything)
  8. Coaching Hacks by Jonathan Reitz (for anyone wanting to incorporate a coaching style of leadership)
  9. The Ideal Team Player by Pat Lencioni (evaluate your team on how hungry, humble, and people-smart they are)
  10. Tribal Leadership by Dave Logan/John King (learn and then listen for the 5 stages)
  11. Non-Violent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg (realize the subtle ways we tear down others with our words)
  12. Emotional Intelligence by Brandon Goleman (a quick primer on the 5 components of EI)
  13. What Successful People Know About Leadership by John Maxwell (a reminder of the basics of leading well)
  14. Tribe of Mentors by Tim Ferris (over 600 pages of the best tips of high performers in his podcast interviews)
