9 Ways to Worry Less and Think More Positively

  1. Journal your gratefulness every day. Ideas: what you have that many in the world do not, what you might be taking
for granted, what could have gone wrong but didn’t, who brightened your day, positive circumstances, new opportunities, how God came through for you
  2. Find the silver lining. In every negative situation, find one positive. When catching yourself gossiping or listening to gossip about someone, turn it around by sharing a positive about that person.
  3. Reframe bad occurrences into learning opportunities. Use phrases like: “I’ll never do that again!” “Next time I must…” “A new system I must create…to get ahead of it.” “Someday I’ll figure out why I needed to learn that lesson.”
  4. Ask yourself, “What’s the worst thing that could happen?”  That rarely happens. Anything this side of that worse case scenario is a better outcome, right?
  5. Accept what comes your way, pivot to a new direction, and take a big step toward dealing with the consequence–without grumbling aloud to yourself nor others.
  6. See life as an adventure! There are mountains AND valleys, sunshine AND clouds. Adventurers buck up in bad weather to eventually get to the amazing views.
  7. Shorten the time wallowing in disappointment. It only feeds your sorrow. Resilient people bounce back more quickly and return to positivity.
  8. Stop yelling at the “closed door” and move toward the one that is opening. This means you must be knocking on more doors!
  9. (For you with a strong faith connection) Trust that God has everything under control. And that He always provides when you yield to His will for your life. “Sometimes He calms the storm, and other times He calms His child.”
